Utilizing both the Global MBA virtual campus (with asynchronous online sessions and live interactive video ones) and integration days (for face-to-face learning and development), the Global MBA is a completely new generation of online training, emerging as the most advanced concept in modern business education.

The Global MBA is aimed at young professionals who want to pursue a quality MBA without leaving their career. IE Business School's Global MBA, lasting 15 months, introduces subjects progressively, accommodating students from varying academic backgrounds. This allows students who have no specific prior experience in the areas covered, to participate actively in the course. IE Business School employs the case method, as well as other techniques in its training, providing hands-on experience in real life cases.

The schedule for the video conference classes has two options, Saturday morning from 11:00 to 14:30 (Madrid time) or saturday afternoons from 16:00 to 19:30 (Madrid time) . The remaining classes are asynchronous and take place between Monday and Thursday at participant’s convenience.

The online learning methods used throughout the Global MBA course are eminently practical, based on teamwork and the case method – the same methods used in our face-to-face programs. Topics are analyzed through participants’ discussion of real cases and business simulations under the guidance of a professor who leads and focuses the debate.

The online learning dynamic is based on combining live videoconference sessions and asynchronous discussion forums all supported by the multimedia materials available on the virtual campus.

The Global MBA offers the unique opportunity of combining the most important aspects of undertaking a masters program with integration days in a completely international environment. During this period, participants have a chance to meet each other and socialize in order to form lasting bonds that will be of use throughout their professional life; one of the great benefits of studying an MBA. While much networking is done via the video conferencing and smaller work groups, the Global MBA also provides several opportunities throughout the year for classmates to get together. There are two obligatory residential periods of one week duration taking place on the second and final weeks of the program in Madrid. To be considered for admission, a candidate must have successfully completed the following prior to submission:

• A Bachelor's degree at an accredited college/university (or equivalent).
• professional post-graduate experience highly valued
• GMAT exam (680 average) or IE Admissions Test. The test result from one of these exams is a prerequisite for admission.
• An English language certificate is required for all non-native English-speaking applicants (TOEFL, TOEIC, IELTS, Cambridge Advanced, EOI). This requirement does not apply if you can demonstrate one of the following:
  • Two years work experience in an English speaking country.
  • Undergraduate degree completed in English.
• A complete application for evaluation by the Admissions Committee, including all supporting documents.

The demanding nature of the Global MBA Online means that a large number of candidates are subject to a rigorous selection process. The main objective of the admissions process is to select students with the highest potential.

The admissions process is a rolling process and as such there is no deadline for applications for a particular intake. However, given the limited number of places on the program, we recommend that you embark on the process many months or even a year before you intend to start.

Candidates pay a non-refundable application fee of €120 to cover administrative costs

The tuition fees for the Global MBA Online September 2010 intake amount to €36,000 + €1,200 (contribution to the IE Business School Foundation).

Admission is valid for two years, allowing the successful applicant up to two years to reserve a place on an intake, thus allowing students to plan their MBA experience. To reserve a place on the Global MBA Online, intake students are required to make a deposit equivalent to 20% of the total program fees (€7,200) + the contribution to the IE Business School Foundation (€1,200).
